What is Body Doubling?

Body doubling is working on any task with another person present, without them participating in your task. The term was coined by the ADHD community and refers to having someone nearby while you complete tasks.

How It Works

Having someone by their side makes it easier to not only get started, but also stay in the zone and see a task through to completion. Body doubling works because it provides accountability. Body doubling may help to initiate focus through co-regulation, fostering a sense of connection with a safe other person.
